One of our most favorite holiday traditions to do in our family is to make Gingerbread Man cookies! The kids and I always have a blast making them together. While they are baking in the oven I always read to them the gingerbread man story. After we finish reading the story I sneak over to the oven take one out and hide it in the house. We have a blast running around the house trying to find it!!

Here is our favorite recipe for Gingerbread Man Cookies!

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger

  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • 3/4 cups of mollases

  • 1 slightly beaten egg

  • 1/2 cup softened butter

1. combine all the dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Stir to blend together. Mix in 1/2 cup of softened butter, 3/4 cup mollases, and egg. Dough will be very stiff, so you may need to use your hands. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

3. Roll dough into 1/4 inch thick on a lightly floured surface. Cut into the shape of the gingerbread man.

4 Bake for 10 minutes in a preheated oven.....decorate!!
