  1. Hi Shelby, this is great Aussies can enter too :) My children haven't started school yet, but they know which school they are going to because every time we drive past we talk about them going to school there one day. They are already SO excited to start there with all the other big kids!!

  6. Start your routine a few week or two before school starts. Start waking up at "school time" and making sure the kids can eat breakfast and get ready to go with plenty of time to get to the bus.

  10. We found the fun of labeling everything makes the children keen & eager. It's a simple thing but very effective.

  11. Definitely getting plenty of sleep! About a week before school starts: Go to bed & get up at the times you would if school was going on (it gets you used to not sleeping in or staying up too late)

  13. I'm so glad I found your site... I love using my felt board with my 2-year old daughter (your felt stories are much cuter than the ones I make :). So she's not quite getting ready for school yet, but we read books all the time... preparing her for future school!

  14. My youngest and I talk about seeing and playing with all her friends. For all of them, I personally like writing and decorating notes for them to find.

  15. Well, I'm not really looking forward to winning. Especially since I don't have a kid yet. And I don't want to have one too soon! Haha!
But when I was a kid, my mom always ties my hair in some fashionable way before I go to school. It was so cool, cause everyday it's a different style. Whenever she does that to me, I feel a hundred per cent ready for school. Yay!

  23. This will be my son's first time at school (pre-school). We walk by the school a lot and I point out that he'll be going to school there. I think I'll have him help me pick out his outfit (I'll give him a choice between two of his favorite shirts that have pictures on that he can point to and talk about with other kids, so he will hopefully feel comfortable and confident!). We will also hopefully be meeting some other kids in a few weeks.

  33. My daughter is starting preschool in two weeks and my favorite thing has been getting her so excited about it! We talk about all of the fun things she is going to do and all of the new friends she is going to make and, even though I think we'll both be sad when she goes, I love knowing she's looking forward to it and will have fun.

    Thanks!
