Pretty Neat on ways to help me become more organized and to help me just let go of my need to be a perfectionist.
This was the first book that I walked away from feeling like I could really accomplish the suggestions on becoming more organized. It did not tell me everything I am doing wrong - It showed me everything I can do to make it right!
One of my favorite chapters in the book was on email. I get a little over 600 emails a day. I have my work email, the kids school emails, junk emails and blog related emails. It feels like an endless sea of no end. I just get my email caught up and more just keep leaking in. I am always putting such high pressure on myself to make sure and always respond within the hour. This book made me realize that it is ok to respond within 24-48 hours. It gave me so many great suggestions on how to help me organize all my emails making my life simpler - simple is good!
It also talked about the power of just saying, "NO!" I am always willing to do anything for anyone, however sometimes I often find myself being taken advantage of. I had already recognized this a couple of years ago and it is an issue that I have been working on. This book made me feel so good about being alright with telling people "no." I feel like I have already made so much progress on this issue, but now after reading this book I know that I am going to continue to improve!
I highly recommend you getting a copy of Pretty Neat by Alicia Rockmore & Sarah Welch. They are also the creators of buttoned up Organizational Products.
