Getting Ready for Blogher - Session #1 - Branding and Marketing #print4blogher

Time flies! Before you know it, you’ll be returning from your BIG trip to the BIG Blogger Conference of BlogHer. If all goes well, you’ll have made the contacts you desired, positioned yourself/blog/brand skillfully to the right connections and established some partnerships or relationships that will lead toward your BIG goals.

Debba Haupert has created some amazing webinars to help prepare you for the big day. Debba is working with five top bloggers to help facilitate these webinars. You can learn more about each session on The UPS Store website or via twitter using hashtag #print4blogher. The five bloggers are:

In the first session we learned about Branding and Marketing. The first thing we learned was that if you are a blogger then you are also a brand. The first thing you have to look at is what your brand is. Your brand is the consistent message, impression, personality that companies, bloggers and readers think of when they consider your blog.

Some things to think about your brand is:
  • What do your readers expect from you?
  • Are you consistent with your tone, topics and timing?
I learned that it is important to stick with what my brand is. My brand is health/nutrition/food and allergies. I learned to be consistent in my topics and stay true to my brand. I also learned how to establish my brand. By defining my goals, consistently communicating and setting the right tone I can be successful in establishing my brand. My goal is to create quality content that will help benefit all my readers.

During the session we learned that marketing our brands consistently at different social media outlets, setting goals and working with the right advertisers will help to be a successful marketing plan. Once you have established your brand, marketing will be much easier to accomplish.

The first session went great. Sara Blake hosted the webinar and provided great information for us and mediated a great question and answer forum. The next session will be hosted by my (Shelby Barone) on Friday, June 24th at 1pm PST. You can learn more about how you can join our next session on the website

The first session was not only informative, but also very interactive. If you missed our first session, you can see the entire lesson plan here.

I know it looks like a lot of options, but we appreciate you taking the time to leave your thoughts.
