Andrew's Walk for Allergies

Andrew has not had the easiest life because of his food allergies. He is working hard to restore hope in his future by walking in the FAAN food allergy walk in Santa Monica on October 23rd. He walked last year and it was the first time he did not feel alone. He was surrounded by other children just like him.

Andrew is allergic to 90% of all foods, has Eosinophilic Esophagitis (caused from the food allergies) and has had many anaphylaxis attacks. Although he is fighting this disease, he is still hopeful we will find a cure soon.

He has been working hard this summer doing lemonade stands, selling his toys at a garage sale and knocking on doors to raise money for this cause. His goal is to raise $300.

If you would like to donate towards Andrew you can do that here at this link:

If you cannot donate we would still love to have you come out and support him by walking on his team, "The Epi-pen trainers." You can register to walk with Andrew at this link here:

Thank you so much for your support!

  1. Hi Shelby - Dealing with childhood food allergies is so difficut. While neither of my kids have any issues, I am very aware of food sensitivities. One of my favorite things about my job is that I was able to create a gluten-free menu with vegan cheese (non-dairy, non-soy.) I've been able to feed families that haven't eaten in restaurants (much less pizza places) for years. Good luck to you with the walk.

  2. I read your July 13 column and my heart hurt for your son. My daughter, one year younger than your son, has had some pretty rough allergy moments at school as well. I am thankful that our principal is a pretty level-headed person and now hand-picks her teachers for her. She tells us ahead of time who the teacher is so we can go in and have a conference before the school year starts and partner up with the teacher. Aside from an evil K teacher, we've had success. We'll be at the FAAN walk again this year. I'm sure your son and my daughter would have a lot in common!

  3. @Mama Bear

Thank you so much for your kind comments. We would love to meet you at the FAAN walk this year. We will all be wearing "team Andrew" shirts.

You are so lucky to have found a school that really works with you. We are moving Andrew into a new school this year and hopeful he will get a fresh new start
