Lately, I have had a bunny that keeps coming into my garden and has been eating a lot of my vegetables, affecting my crops. To make up for the lack of vegetables coming from my garden, I have been spending more time at the local Farmers Market.
I love to support local farmers, and recently we were delivered some fresh avocados from an avocado farm in Escondido. They came in a beautiful green box, filled with the most flavorful avocados we have had. The avocados came from 16 beautiful acres of avocado trees, where the owner also opened the California Avocado Grill restaurant.
The owner, Alex MacLachlan is an Escondido Native who grew up just blocks from the California Avocado Grill site on Grand Avenue. The house he grew up in was built around avocado trees leftover from an old Fuerte Avocado Grove.
The California Avocado Grill restaurant is located in the historic downtown Escondido. Guests can enjoy fresh California avocados dishes paired with hand selected California wines. All of the dishes at the restaurant highlight the unique flavor that the avocado possess.
Supporting local farmers help contribute more than $300 million to our local economy. When purchasing locally grown produce you are not only helping the local economy, but also helping to support a member of the community.
Avocados are one of Andrew's favorite foods, and he enjoyed making his famous guacamole recipe with the avocados we received.
