ooohhh--aaahhhh! Hold your applause! It is really only fermented milk.
Next time you might find yourself sitting in a fancy French restaurant, and the waiter attempts to sell you a $45 dish because of the special creme fraiche sauce ... you can giggle knowing it's just spoiled milk.
A popular ingredient that is used in many dishes that I thought would be difficult to make, it actually quiet easy. Two ingredients - one step - viola!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of of whipping cream
- 2 Tbl. of buttermilk
Directions:
- Combine the two ingredients into a glass jar.
- Cover and let sit at room temperature for 12-24 hours.
- Stir well and the refrigerate. It can be stored for up to 10 days.
I will be sharing a great recipe that I used creme fraiche in tomorrow!
