My kids love family movie night. It is always a secret trick I hold in my sleeve when I desperately want them to get their homework done quickly. I barely have to mumble the words "family movie night" and they get all their homework done in a flash. If only we could do it every night!
Once the kiddos were done with their homework they did what they love doing the best - rode their bikes. Everyday all the kids on the street meet up to ride bikes, and play. When Tyler and I went to Walmart to pick-up the movie, we also got some Del Monte fruit cups to make Popsicles for the kids. (We are in the high 80's right now in California). We were also able to save $4 on the movie with the purchase of two Del Monte products, or we could have grabbed the $.50 coupon in First for Women Magazine.
They were super easy to make, and the kids got a kick out of them. Here is how to make them:
First cut a small slit into the plastic lid.
Then stick a Popsicle stick into it.
Put it into the freezer for a couple of hours.
When the kids are ready for their frozen fruit, peel off the lid.
After they were done with their snack, we all came inside to watch our movie. It was not much of a surprise to find one of our own zoo members had gotten into a little trouble. Daisy had knocked over the entire box of Milkbone biscuits that we got her, and was having her own little snack.
What she did not know was that Tyler and I had made her a special treat of Carob covered dog biscuits.
My kids love animals, and they love our own mini zoo. We have a dog, a gecko, fish, and soon to own a bird. Guess who is the zookeeper? Moi!
Since we have a tribe of animal lovers, the kiddos could not wait to watch the movie "We bought a Zoo." They all bought down all their blankets, and even built some forts. My hubby and I cuddled on the couch to enjoy watching the movie.
My advice would be to bring an entire box of tissue to watch this movie. I could not hold back crying for at least 1/2 of the entire movie. My kids loved it so much that they begged us to let them watch it during breakfast this morning.
What kind of animals do you have?
