California Avocado Week at Catal Restaurant #DTDAvoweek

Last night I enjoyed dinner at Catal Restaurant located in Downtown Disney for California Avocado Week. Avocados are one of my favorite fruits, and getting to enjoy the fruit prepared in different ways was amazing. The dinner at Catal was an epicurean experience that I will never forget.


The chef first talked with us about the beautiful dishes he prepared, and the different ways he cooked the avocados. My favorite technique that he demonstrated was smoking an avocado. 


For the first course we enjoyed ~ Tartare of Japanese hamachi with green shiso, crispy wakame, agretti and California avocado-jalapeno sorbet.


The main entree was ~ Confit of suckling pig with sweet corn, zucchini blossoms, smoked pork jus, smoked California avocado and house made chicharrones.


We finished off the evening with ~ Double chocolate tart with California avocado mint puree, lace tulle and Harry's Berries blackberries.

The restaurants at Downtown Disney will be serving special dishes featuring California Avocados all week long. There will also be complimentary food demonstrations by the chefs. For more information see the listing at the OC Mom Blog.
